Later in February of this year, Senator Josh Newman proposed SB 1407, a similar bill for the State Senate and General house to vote on for the State of California. However, it is important to note that a similar law was proposed back in 2018 as well but failed to materialize.
The new bill allows drivers to bring four additional pictures of themselves to the DMV for their driver’s license application. These photos must adhere to specific specifications set by the DMV and cannot be altered in any way. The new bill also introduces a fee for this service, which has yet to be disclosed.
